Production Logos

Production logo designs are employed for branding the productions of both movie studies as well as television production companies. The production logos are typically seem at the start of each theatrical movie and this is why production logos are also termed as opening logos in the context of theatrical movies. However, production logos may also be termed as closing logos when they are used at the end of any television program or also a TV movie. More than often, a production logo is used both as an opening and closing logo.

Over the years, certain production company logos have become more popular than others, for instance, the Universal Studios classic globe logo and the 20th Century Fox’s searchlights. It should be noted that production logo designs vary and can be of any type. For example, a globe logo is used by Universal Studies while a natural logo featuring a mountain is used by the Paramount Pictures.

Alternatively, animal logo may also be used which is the current MGM logo featuring the king of the jungle. Other production logos may feature cartoon characters and mascots for branding their production companies such as the Mimsie the Cat in MTM’s company logo design.

Accordingly, there is no constraint or limitation in the designing, styling, fonts or the color scheme of production company logos but rather all of them are unique and original in their own manner. The logo designs of smaller production companies are called vanity logo or commonly referred to as “vogos”.
