Software Logos

Software company logos vary quite a bit from each other and indeed from logos in other industries. Famous software company logos include Google, Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, SAP, Oracle, People Soft, Red Hat and the mighty big blue – IBM. Most of these logos rely on text rather than symbols to get the job done. This may also be because they are global brands with significant differences in their diverse audience. Thus, using symbols may not be appreciated by each of their customer. Secondly, these logos have to be instantly recognizable. Thus, text logos are used since they are easily recognizable and people get used to them very quickly.

Four logos in the software industry merit special attention. First is the Google logo. Most people who use the internet are likely to have come across multiple times. It is the dominant search engine and provides a range of software applications like Google Docs, Google Notebook, Google Translate and Google Toolbar.

Second is the Microsoft logo. It is text based with the company name in italic. Below it you can find their tagline. The logo is extremely simple and straight forward which makes it easily recognizable. This logo represents probably of the biggest brands in the world, as does the Google logo.

Some say the Apple logo is worth more than the actual software such as Safari that they make. Their brand is clearly one of the most respected and sought after among design enthusiasts and technology users in general.

Finally the Big Blue logo is as simple as it gets and probably the biggest legend among software company logos.
