NASA Logo

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) advances into space and aeronautics and has three official logos for its representation one of which has been created since 1959. The first logo is the NASA insignia which is also called the meatball. However, the reproduction of this logo was very difficult as the design is very complicated. The sphere within the design symbolizes the planet whilst the stars within the logo design represent space. In the meatball design the red chevron having the shape of constellation Andromeda which is a galaxy is also a representation of the wing aeronautics which when the logo was developed was the latest technology developed at the time. Another image within the logo design is of the spacecraft moving around the wing image within the logo design.

The NASA insignia design or the meatball logo did not have its nickname until 1975. In this year a more compact and stylish logo was developed which was highly uncomplicated. This logo design simply comprised of stylish initials of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in red color. This new logo was termed as the “worm”. This second official logo has not been in use since 1992. However this “worm” logo is sometimes used for special purposes such as of merchandising and commercial usage. The third NASA official logo is called the seal. This logo design is specifically for formal events and activities. In 1992, the previous meatball logo design was brought back in official use to establish an improved image.
