Peugeot Logo

The Peugeot Logo consisting of the lion depicts a strong brand visual of the Peugeot Cars. The initial lion design for the branding was only for the marking saw steel and blade associated products. The lion represents three main features of the branded Peugeot saw blades. First is the toughness of the blade, second is the flexibility feature of the blade and third is the speed of the cut. This lion image was used in the Peugeot logo design for the first time in 1850 on the Peugeot Bros arrow. The lion was originally put on the saw blades and remained for many years a mark on Peugeot branded tools. The Peugeot logo was made a trademark in 1858.

In 1889, the lion logo was not included with the advertising of the first cars manufactured by Peugeot but by 190 till 1915, the lion logo was included in almost all cars manufactured by the Peugeot Bros. In 1965, as the company had evolved into a Peugeot S.A, there were changes in the previous lion logo design. The lion’s head was first contained in a triangular shield but in 1968, this logo was again changed when the lion’s head was enclosed in a square, this is the present brand sign. However, at that time the heraldic lion was still used on radiator grills of Peugeot cars. In 1998, paws were added to the lion’s body to balance the feline and represents long term vision. This Peugeot logo is also called the Blue Brand.
